Everything Must Go

Once we sold our house I sold all our stuff during the subdivision annual sale.  Well, 75% or more of our stuff.  I opened at 1:30p on a Thursday and by 3:30 all our stuff was sold.  So, Friday I scoured our house for items, filled garage again and sold everything out in 2 hours on Saturday.  I priced everything CHEAP.  Hey, I wasn't putting the money I made towards retirement savings, I just needed everything gone.

I HIGHLY recommend getting rid of all your stuff.  Unburdening yourself of everything you've collected over the years is a very freeing experience.  Lucky for us we had been minimizing all areas of our lives for the past 1 1/2 -2 years so this purge wasn't a big deal.  And YES it can be done with 4 kids.  The kids sold the things they wanted and kept the things they couldn't live without which amounted to about 4-6 storage tubs of toys.  I know it's counterintuitive but the kids play better with less stuff.  It has made all our lives a lot less stressful and way easier to clean up when needed.

From Parker's writing journal: I am moving to Wisconsin. I bought a house.  We are going to go in it on Thursday.  We are getting 2 trailers.  (The trailer says aardvark)

People thought we were joking when we said all we are taking to Milwaukee is our beds, tv and the Christmas decorations.  We were serious.  Everything we had fit into two 6x12 UHaul trailers with room to spare.  Unpacking at our new house was pretty simple since there wasn't much to unpack.  This left us more time to do other fun things like find lake glass at a local beach.  After 4 beach visits we already filled a little jar full of glass.  I see craft projects in our future.

Lake glass and a piece of driftwood we found.
