Last Beach Day of This Summer

After looking at the 10 day forecast we realized Friday was our last hope of having a morning beach day with the boys this summer. They start school Tuesday and the next 4 billion days are predicting rain/thunderstorms. Super fun. Here's our last morning beach day. We were the only ones there when we arrived. The kids were excited to find the "river" stopped up with logs and rocks from a recent storm. Here they are trying to move a HUGE fallen tree. Looks like a stick in the picture but on the other side of the "river" is a tiny drop to the lake. It was a big tree that wasn't budging. 2 Month Picture Dump Part 1

It's been 2 months since my last post so I thought I'd do a picture dump to show what we've been up to. Then I decided that there were too many pictures so this will be a 2 part post. This is what it looked like 1 months ago right now: The kids were happy that FINALLY it was snow-people making snow. It only took until April for that kind of snow to arrive. I feel like they were patient about that. What a difference a month can make, today was high of 73. Imagine that. WI weather is just like MI weather. After the snow melted, on the first nice sunny day we had I could hear the city wake up. In winter when we go outside everything is quiet. Now, as I sit here with the windows open, I can hear the hum of the busy city. It's not a bad sound at all, it's more like an alive sound. First Day at New School

The boys started 2nd grade at their new school today. Parker is super thrilled This year was a bit different than last year not just because we're in a new city. This year we did not buy new back packs, new shoes, new clothes, etc. etc. We bought nothing special for the new year. And you know what? The boys survived the day without all that stuff. In fact, they didn't even care about any of these things. In the past we bought character backpacks that always fell apart. Pax went through 2 backpacks last year alone. This year they are carrying the camo backpacks Katie got them years ago for camping. I figure if those things can last this long they'll make it until I can find a good deal on JanSport backpacks. I still have my JanSport from high school so that's what the boys are getting. I did not break out new shoes for their first day because the shoes they have still fit.
