Don't Play Hide-and-Seek With Parker

The other day Jed and the kids were playing Hide-and-Seek in the basement.  I was in the living room cooking and cleaning or maybe just watching tv.  One by one Pax, Hayd and Ham came to the living room looking for Park.

Pax, Hayd,Ham: "Mom!  Is Parker in here?"
Me:  Nope, I haven't seen him.

Over and over they searched the living room looking for Park.  Now I'm here to tell you our living room is small.  There is only one possible place for a kid to hide in our living room and Parker was not there.

After the kids searched the entire house several times I started to grow concerned.  I had visions that Parker hid himself in a place he couldn't get out. A refrigerator at the curb.  A dryer.  Most recently on the news a kid got himself locked in a cooler, his parents found him after only a couple minutes but still that's what I was thinking when we couldn't find Park.  I was seriously concerned for his safety at that point.

Me:  PARKER!!!  GET OUT HERE RIGHT NOW OR YOU ARE IN MORE TROUBLE THAN YOU CAN EVER IMAGINE!!!

Before I give away where he was hiding I'd like to tell you about another Parker Hide-and-Seek situation.  When we went back to Michigan over Christmas the kids roped Jacob into playing Hide-and-Seek about a million times.  Parker decided to hid in a box under a table in the living room, almost a hiding-in-plain-sight type of situation because the other kids walked past him a million times.  He was in the box so long that someone asked if he had fallen asleep.  Upon hearing the question this was his response:

Reenactment of the box hiding event

Basically we saw a little fist shoot straight up out of the box to signal that he hadn't fallen asleep.  Everyone in the room cracked up.  Then he put his hand down and remained there for quite some time before finally having to give himself up.  It was an excellent spot to hide.

Back to the original story.  After the I threw the threat of getting in trouble out there he finally emerged from his hiding spot.  Can you find him in this picture?

Find Parker, he's in there

The little shit put that yellow/blue bag over his head and sat in our tiny storage area under the basement steps completely disguised and completely silent for the better part of 30 minutes.  Jed and I were relieved he was ok, a little pissed that we couldn't find him and a lot impressed about his hiding spot.  We were also impressed with his commitment to the game.  Most other kids would have giggled themselves into being found.  Not this kid.  Stealthy as all hell.  Moral of the story, if you're playing Hide-and-Seek with Parker you're probably not going to win but you'll be in for an interesting game.
