"Fun Day at the Beach"

That's what Hayden told me as I was hauling her back to the car today.  "We had a fun day at the beach, Mommy."  We certainly did.

We found tons of unique lake glass.

Today's finds

Our rare finds

Hayden found a tiny orange piece which is almost unheard of then she found a giant piece of red which also unheard of.  Jed found a great piece of ceramic that still had print on it.  Then he found what looks to be black or maybe it used to be purple glass.  Again, unheard of.  We also found milk glass which is just white glass.

The boys wanted to make sure I included the fact that yesterdays glass find filled up our jar so we have to get another jar to put today's finds in.

Full jar of lake glass.
I added the hand sanitizer for comparison sake

We walked to the point.  It used to be some sort of dock.  Not sure of the history but those are cement slabs that from a distance look like wood.

At the point

Boat watching at the point

This was something we've been wanting to do for a while.  We didn't start out the day intending to walk there it just kind of happened.  As we looked for glass we kept getting further and further down the beach to the point that it would have been silly not to keep going.  Getting to the point was not as easy as it looked.  There were trees down we had to climb over then there was a mucky swamp area that could only be avoided by climbing a steep trail which was super fun with 2 two year olds.  It was worth the hike though.

On the way back we had to make a stop to rest.

"Bury me!"

"Bury me too!"

When Hayden stood up her legs looked like she had pox

The beach is sandy in places but I think the kids prefer the rocks, way more fun to play with.  We all feel so lucky to live so close to Lake Michigan.
