Last Day of School

As of today The Boys are done with 2nd grade...and they brought home a crap ton of folders, notebooks, math workbooks, etc. to prove it.  I'd like to think I'm going to put away all that stuff right away but more than likely it'll kick around the house for the next few weeks until I get sick of the mess and throw everything away.  Until then The Boys have added their school stuff to their basement desk.

The school did a family picnic day that was rained out so it was held in the cafeteria instead.

Proof that Jed is alive.  Parker looking super happy with picture time as usual.

To celebrate the last day of school and because we decided to pretend we are rich, we got the kids Happy Meals for lunch.  One mortgage payment later we're the proud owners of a half eaten cheeseburger, 2 chicken nuggets and 4 crappy plastic toys that will probably kick around the house until I get sick of it and put them in the donation bin.

From the very beginning Jed and I's number one concern was how The Boys were going to handle the move to Wisconsin.  Turns out they handled it great.  They did so well in school this year.  They both had great teachers.  Their classes only had 16-18 students.  They got to do cool things like play instruments, make clay monsters, raise chickens and meal worms.  Every kid had their own Chromebook laptop.  It's amazing how these little things can help so much when it comes to learning.  Pax had reached all his benchmarks by February of this year and Parker jumped 6 reading levels to finish out the year exactly where he should be in reading.  We are so proud of both our boys.

3rd grade here we come!
