State Fair

It only took us a year but we finally made it to the State Fair this summer.  Our neighbors and Jed's co-workers had told us all about the delicious food at the fair.  Meat sandwiches, fried cheese curds, cream puffs, fried jalapenos on a stick, corn on the cob.  Drool.  So of course all we ate was popcorn and soft pretzels, things we could totally get at a visit to the mall.  Now I'll have to wait another year until I try my first cheese curd.  I think Wisconsin allows you to live in the state for 3 years without trying cheese curds, after 3 years if a cheese curd has not been consumed they kick you out.

Despite our bland food choices we had lots of fun.  There were so many things for the kids to do and see.

Magnetic fishing pond

We saw HUGE pigs walking around getting whacked with a stick in the face, because apparently that's how you get a big pig to walk where you want it to.  We also saw chickens hatching, huge rabbits, sheep, goats, cows and horses.

The highlight of our visit was the Ferris wheel.  On our way to the zoo the week before we saw the Ferris wheel being set up so Hayden was DETERMINED to ride, it's all she talked about the entire ride to the fair.  We warned her that our riding the Ferris wheel would be determined by the cost.  Since it only cost us $5 per person we forked over the cash to hopefully give the kids a memory of their first visit to the fair.  The excited look on Hayden's face when we told her we were going to ride the Ferris wheel will forever be burned into my memory.  It was kind of like Ham's face below:

Paxton was semi-terrified and held the handle the entire ride.  Ham was a little over excited the entire ride.

Hayden was so excited to be riding the BIG FERRIS WHEEL.  Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee is way in the distance.

Even Parker thought the ride was fun.
Ferris wheel so big I couldn't even get the entire thing in a picture.
The kids were wiggling around a little from sheer excitement which caused our little cart to swing back and forth.  I'm pretty sure Jed peed himself a little. He's terrified of heights.

Watch out Wisconsin State Fair 2020, we'll be coming for you!
